What we collect
We only collect personal data when you choose to share it with us. Specifically:
- Connect Card and contact form: name, email, optional phone number, the interests you tick, and whatever you write in the message field.
- Prayer request form: optional name and email, the prayer request itself, and your visibility preference (prayer team only, or pastor only).
- Email subscriptions: if you sign up for the weekly email through ChurchSuite, your email address and any details you provide there.
- Server logs: when you visit the site we receive standard technical information (IP address, user-agent, page requested, timestamp) which our hosting provider, Cloudflare, retains for security and abuse prevention.
We do not use third-party analytics or advertising tracking on this site.
How we use it
- To respond to your enquiry, prayer request or visit plan.
- To send you the weekly email if you have signed up for it.
- To keep the church connected, for example, follow-up after a first visit.
- To meet our safeguarding obligations where relevant.
- To keep the site secure and prevent abuse.
Lawful basis
We rely on the following lawful bases under UK GDPR:
- Consent. When you submit a form on this website, you are consenting to us using your details for the purpose stated. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests. For the day-to-day pastoral and administrative functions of the church, where doing so does not override your rights.
- Legal obligation. For safeguarding, financial reporting and Gift Aid records, where we must keep certain data for a defined period.
Who we share it with
Your details are only shared with the people who need to see them: usually a pastor, the church secretary, our prayer team or our safeguarding lead, depending on the nature of your enquiry.
We use a small number of carefully chosen processors to run this site:
- Cloudflare: hosting and security.
- Hi Human: contact, prayer and Connect Card form processing.
- ChurchSuite: member database and email communications.
- Adventist Stewardship: online tithe and offering payments.
We do not sell, rent or trade your data to third parties under any circumstances.
How long we keep it
- Form submissions are kept for as long as needed to follow up, then archived or deleted.
- Email subscribers are kept until you unsubscribe.
- Gift Aid and financial records are kept for the period required by HMRC (currently six years).
- Safeguarding-related records are retained according to our safeguarding policy.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct it if it is wrong.
- Ask us to delete it ("right to erasure"), subject to our other legal obligations.
- Object to or restrict our processing.
- Withdraw consent at any time.
- Complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected] or, for safeguarding-related concerns, contact our safeguarding lead at [email protected].
