What we believe
Nine short statements that capture the heart of what we believe, followed by the historic 28 Fundamental Beliefs we share with the wider Seventh-day Adventist Church.
The short version
There is one God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, a unity of three co-eternal Persons. The Father is Creator and Sustainer; the Son became incarnate in Jesus; the Holy Spirit draws people to God and distributes spiritual gifts.
In Christ’s perfect life, suffering, death and resurrection, God provided the only means of atonement for human sin. Those who accept this through faith receive eternal life.
The second coming of Christ is the blessed hope of the church. His return will be literal, personal, visible and universal. The righteous dead will rise, join the righteous living and go with him.
A community of believers who confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, gathering for worship, fellowship, biblical instruction, communion, neighbourly service and global gospel proclamation.
The Old and New Testaments are the written Word of God, given by divine inspiration. They are God’s infallible revelation of his will.
Baptism by immersion is a symbol of our union with Christ, the forgiveness of our sins and our reception of the Holy Spirit.
The great principles of God’s law, exemplified in the life of Christ. Salvation is by grace and not of works, but its fruit is obedience to the commandments.
The seventh day of the week, Saturday, is observed as a day of rest, worship and ministry, in harmony with the teaching and practice of Jesus, from sunset Friday to sunset Saturday.
On the new earth, where righteousness dwells, God will provide a glorious home for the redeemed. He will dwell with his people, and suffering and death will be no more.
